A Fitness First gym in Australia is the first to feature GymKit-compatible equipment, 9 News reports. In a demonstration of the new capabilities, reporters saw users tap their Apple Watches to a treadmill to send data back and forth automatically, with the watch pre-loading all of the user’s vital stats and the treadmill sending calories burned and incline information back to the watch during the workout. There’s no word on when the specialized gym equipment necessary for the connection will appear in the U.S., but Apple has previously said compatible machines from TechnoGym, Life Fitness, Matrix, StairMaster and Schwinn will start rolling out by the end of thew year.
