KDDI will offer the iPhone 5 in Japan, ending rival carrier SoftBank’s three-year exclusive on the popular handset. Citing a report from Japanese-language Nikkei Business, MarketWatch reports that KDDI was making preparations to sell the iPhone 5 at its au shops throughout the country beginning in November. The iPhone has been a major draw for SoftBank over the last few years as it has battled both KDDI and market leader NTT DoCoMo for subscribers. [via 9to5Mac]
