Leaked photos may provide a peek at Apple’s rumoured 18W USB-C iPhone charger

A new set of leaked photos shared by Mac Otakara are claiming to show engineering prototypes of a new 18-watt USB-C charger that Apple may be designing for fast charging iPhones. Reports earlier this year suggested that Apple would be including a USB-C charger and USB-C to Lightning cable in the box with this year’s iPhone models, replacing the relatively anemic five-watt charger that has been bundled with iPhones since 2008.

An 18-watt USB-C charger would provide maximum charging speeds for current iPhone models, but would also be a boost for older iPhones as well. The text on the charger shown in the photos appears to confirm that it will provide power output of up to 5V at 3A (15W) or 9V at 2A (18W).
