“Apple’s iPod has received the accolade of best Internet Audio Device in European Imaging and Sound Association’s (EISA) annual awards.
EISA credit the iPod as: ‘A standard-bearer for the future of Internet music.’
The iPod received the award based on the success of Apple’s iTunes Music Store, described as: ‘The first successful paid-for Internet music service’. The Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec, employed by the store and the iPod, is also highlighted. AAC is described as: ‘Superior” and “Giving better sound quality for a given data rate.’”
