Apple has revamped the look of its online store’s homepage, placing a considerably stronger focus on Apple-developed hardware and high-margin accessories. Fewer and generally more expensive items have been given prominent positions on the Store’s main pages, while text and links have been reduced.
Notably, the redesign removes front-page graphic links to educational discounts, as well as refurbished and clearance products, hiding text links in a tiny “More Stores” section at the bottom of the page.
High-margin accessories have been placed “below the fold” on the new pages, with the “Shop iPod” section pushing particularly expensive speakers below Apple’s own products.
Currently, a Father’s Day promotion sits in the center of the main page.
