Plex joins forces with Tidal to provide access to over 60 million high-quality tracks

Plex joins forces with Tidal to provide access to over 60 million high-quality tracks

Popular media platform Plex is taking another step towards solidifying its position as a one-stop media hub with announcement that it has partnered with the global music streaming platform Tidal. The new deal will give Plex members access to more than 60 million high-quality music tracks and over 244,000 videos, along with unique editorial content. Plex users will be able to access Tidal content directly from the Plex app through an exclusive subscription deal that will enhance the user of both services. Plex users will continue to be able to enjoy their own personal music collections alongside Tidal’s catalog, with everything seamlessly blended together within the Plex app, allowing users to search out their favourite music and other content regardless of where it’s located.

This latest update follows the addition of support for Plex News, Plex Podcasts, and Plex Web Shows earlier this year, effectively allowing users to access and curate all of their major media in a single location — music, podcasts, web shows, live TV, recorded movies and shows, and their own personal media collections — accessed through a single set of apps that are available on just about any platform. Tidal’s entire music catalog is available on Plex right at launch, and Plex users will also gain a number of advanced music curation and discovery features, including offering artist recommendations, filing in missing albums, augmented artist radio, new releases, universal playlists and universal search that allow Tidal and personal library content to be easily mixed together, and music videos.

Two plans are available: a $9.99 Tidal Premium plan provides standard access to Tidal along with premium Plex music features, while a $19.99 Tidal HiFi + Plex Pass subscription gives subscribers access to Tidal’s CD-quality lossless music library along with a Plex Pass subscription — a saving of $60 compared to purchasing both plans separately. Existing Tidal subscribers can simply link their current Tidal account to their Plex account and get started right away, and Plex users who already subscribe to Plex Pass can purchase either of the Tidal plans for a slight discount of $8.99 or $18.99. Both plans also start with a 30-day free trial.
