Google will keep its newly acquired Nest group intact to work on hardware for the company, TechCrunch reports.
Nest, founded by “father of the iPod” Tony Fadell, will “not necessarily” work on thermostats or smoke detectors, as Google reportedly “would like Fadell to work on gadgets that make more sense for the company.” It’s possible that phones or tablets could be part of that plan.
Google’s recent acquisition of Nest cost $3.2 billion.
