An unverified tip claims Apple is preparing a promotional video ahead of next week’s event touting the ability to shoot 4K video on the new ‘iPhone SE,’ Apple Insider reports. Until now there hasn’t been speculation one way or the other as to whether the new phone would be able to capture 4K video, but if rumors about the new device’s camera and CPU being basically equivalent to those of the iPhone 6s are accurate, the omission of 4K recording would seem to be an artificial limitation, rather than a technical one.
Rumors about the new 4-inch phone have been all over the place in the last year — with predictions ranging from a modestly upgraded iPhone 5s to a smaller iPhone 6s — but as Apple’s official unveiling next week grows closer, consensus is growing that Apple is less worried about putting the new device on par with the six-month-old 6s, considering the iPhone 7’s release is now right around the corner. With 3D Touch rumored to be one prominent feature left off the iPhone SE, the inclusion of 4K video may not be too big a stretch.
