A Volvo press release reveals additional details about CarPlay, which was just officially announced by Apple. It’s noted that a Wi-Fi connection will allow for the iPhone to connect to the car in the “near future”; CarPlay was initially announced as being accessible to only three iPhone models using a Lightning cable.

Volvo’s portrait screen will let users access Volvo and Apple content simultaneously, without switching between the car screen and iOS.
CarPlay will debut in Volvo’s new XC90 “later in 2014.”
