Following last year’s acquisition of August, the two companies have announced their first collaboration that will see Yale’s Assure line of smart locks gaining support for August’s advanced connectivity technology. The new “Assure Locks – Connected by August” lineup will be the first keypad-based smart locks that can take advantage of advanced features like automatic unlocking, remote access, DoorSense, and secure virtual keys.
The Yale Assure Lock SL locks already feature a modular design, and previously incorporated their own smart lock technology through the company’s own iM1 Network Module; this new collaboration will allow current Yale Assure owners to simply purchase a new module — the Connected by August Kit ($129) — in order to gain the full suite of August smart lock features for their existing lock, including the August Connect Wi-Fi bridge and DoorSense equipment. The new product line includes both the Yale Assure Lock SL ($299), which features an edge-to-edge touchscreen keypad, and the Assure Lock Touchscreen ($279), which features the keypad combined with traditional key access options.
Both new locks, and the Connected by August kit, are available for purchase now on ShopYalehome.com, and will be available at August.com, Amazon, and other national retailers in mid-October.
