Sold by Apple solely because of a European Union directive requiring smartphones to be compatible with the Micro USB standard for recharging purposes, the Lightning to Micro USB Adapter (£15/€19) is the tiniest Lightning accessory yet released, and probably will retain that title for quite some time. Consisting of little more than a female Micro USB port and a male Lightning plug, joined by a glossy white and matte gray plastic frame, this accessory is designed to let Micro USB cables charge and sync all Apple devices with Lightning ports.
Only sold in Europe, and then for the same prices as Apple’s full-fledged Lightning to USB Cables, this adapter has an even wider Lightning plug jacket than the 0.2m version of the Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter, but it’s thinner, which may enhance its case compatibility. The last photo here shows the difference in size between Apple’s Lightning and earlier, less expensive Dock Connector version of the Micro USB Adapter.
