ClamCase has released a version of its ClamCase+ for the 9.7″ iPad Pro. As in the case of past ClamCase keyboards we’ve reviewed, ClamCase+ for 9.7″ iPad Pro ($130) is a Bluetooth keyboard case. Which means that, despite being an iPad Pro keyboard, it doesn’t use the iPad’s Smart Connector. ClamCase+ can be used in a variety of angles using the smart hinge — typing, viewing, and the folded “book mode” for typical tablet use. As a case, it offers full button coverage. ClamCase+ has backlit keys and the company claims the keyboard can be used for several weeks on a single charge. Considering we’ve reviewed a number of ClamCase keyboards, including the very similar ClamCase+ for iPad Air 2, we’ll keep this review brief.

While it would make sense to see a Smart Connector keyboard in this version of ClamCase+, like many other companies, Incipio/ClamCase is sticking with Bluetooth. As with the iPad Air 2 version of this keyboard case, ClamCase+ is a good keyboard for its size, offering pleasant bouncy keys. The fit on ClamCase+ is a bit wonky — the iPad fits just fine, but the case doesn’t quite seem to close fully.

ClamCase+ is a very good keyboard case for the 9.7” iPad Pro. Users who want a Smart Connector keyboard won’t be interested, but those who prefer Bluetooth will be pleased with ClamCase+, especially now that the retail price has dropped to $130 (ClamCase+ for iPad Air 2 was $150 at the time of its launch).
