Earth3D (Free) by Nicoteam is one of the few applications we’ve liked on the iPod touch and iPhone despite the fact that it doesn’t do a lot—that’s because it does what it’s made to do very well.
There’s a spinning Earth in the center, complete with cloud cover and the ability to reflect the sun, which occasionally passes by, along with the moon. Do nothing and you’ll a camera spin around them all; touch the screen with two fingers and you can take partial control over the angle you’re viewing the earth from.
Turn the device on its side and everything moves from vertical to horizontal. This is the sort of screensaver these devices would benefit from if they didn’t always turn off their screens to conserve power; we seriously hope that a version with zoom effects will eventually be released.
