Known for its innovative and occasionally somewhat unusual designs, Essential TPE has released Iro Case Snapsnap ($TBD), a fairly pedestrian version of the hard plastic Smart Cover-compatible rear shells we’ve been seeing since shortly after the iPad 2 debuted earlier this year.
Iro Case Snapsnap’s only major claim to fame is a rear-mounted magnet that enables the Smart Cover to stay in place when it’s opened and flat on the iPad 2’s back; it’s otherwise saddled with the same overly open top and bottom that some of the lower-rated iPad 2 shells suffered from.
Essential TPE notes that it has used a special UV coating and extra hardness on its polycarbonate plastic body to reduce scratches on the high-gloss finish.
