We haven’t seen anything quite like this in years: Essential TPE’s new Verbin ($TBD) is an iPhone 4 battery pack with its own charging dock, using a special four-pin connector to enable the iPhone to stand upright on a flat surface and face you while refueling — something that other battery cases can’t do. TPE bundles a hard plastic base with a matching two-piece case, coating each in soft touch rubber.
Inside the case is a 2000mAh polymer battery capable of fully doubling the iPhone 4’s run time; the outside of the Verbin case has holes rather than protectors for the device’s buttons. On the back are a four-stage power indicator and a power button.
TPE’s charging dock is deliberately heavy to remain firmly in place on a desk or table, and has a fully rubber bottom, a micro-USB connector on its rear, and a USB cable for charging and synchronization. No price has been announced.
