Designed to aggressively compete on price and performance with the Griffin AmpliFi and XtremeMac Tango X2, Grace Digital’s new GDI-iDOCK5 ($150) is an all-in-one 2.1-channel audio system with a 5.25″ subwoofer inside a stylish, large cabinet. With flecked black coating that looks like granite, and measuring 16″ by 10.5″ by 5.5″, the GDI-iDOCK5 is bigger than its peer systems, equipped with a metallic front dial, and the only one to include an integrated clock.
Two front-firing 2.5″ speakers are designed to handle everything save the lowest lows, which are powered by the rear-ported subwoofer. AM and FM radio antennas are included for attachment to the cabinet’s back, and a remote control offers access to all of the iPod’s and GDI-iDOCK5’s features, including bass and treble controls.
Auxiliary input cables are included in the package; a power supply is built into the unit with a non-detachable cable. Editor’s Note: After a period of uncertainty by Grace, this product appears to have been cancelled before release.
