The transmitter has tuning buttons, an LCD screen, and three preset buttons, connecting to the Dock Connector port of iPods, minis, and nanos, while the AV cable works with fifth-generation iPods and color-screened fourth-generation iPods.
A port on the bottom of the FM transmitter connects to the car charger cable; the transmitter otherwise runs off of the iPod’s battery power, tuning from 88.1FM to 107.9FM in .1 increments.
