First Look: iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit

Opening up one of Apple’s portable devices isn’t easy — between unusual screws and components that need to be gently separated, it’s important to have special tools ready. With iFixit’s Pro Tech Toolkit ($60), the chances of missing any tool you need are close to zero. Packed inside the nylon kit are 70 tools for repairing your electronics, including the pentalobe screwdriver necessary for getting into recent iPhones, an insane collection of different screw tips, spreaders, and a tiny ruler. Tearing open your Apple device voids the warranty, of course, but if you’re outside the warranty period and willing to explore what’s inside, this toolkit is a great way to start.
