As one of three new Incipio cases for the second-generation iPod touch, Feather ($20) is based upon the earlier iPhone case of the same name, featuring a very thin hard plastic shell that has soft touch rubber coating on the outside, plus a screen protector made from clear film. It’s lightweight, hard protection, available in your choice of seven colors.
Other than color tweaks, not much has changed from the iPhone version of Feather to the iPod touch one.
Incipio now includes only a single screen protector in the package—not a big issue, though we also preferred the iPhone 3G screen protector design—and the curves have been modified slightly to fit the second-generation touch’s body. Incipio has done a good job here of tailoring its openings precisely to the iPod’s buttons and ports; the holes are as precise as you can get, in no way compromising access to any of the device’s features.
While Feather doesn’t offer much in the way of frills by contrast with DuroShot – notably, there’s no video stand here, and less body coverage—it offers the thinnest protection we’ve yet seen for the iPod touch shy of full-body clear film.
The price is reasonable, and you have the choice of a number of colors. It’s worthy of our general recommendation.
