First Look: iSkin Solo FX + Solo Vu for iPhone 4

Updated

Similarly named to one another and based loosely upon earlier cases, iSkin’s Solo FX ($35) and Solo Vu ($40) are nonetheless fairly different designs, each based upon translucent molded TPU plastic. Whereas Solo FX is a single color — from your choice of several options — varying in glossy and matte finish based upon the side you’re viewing it from and the design of the rear surface, Solo Vu combines colored TPU with a clear hard shell in an ingenious design that seamlessly blends the two materials into one piece. iSkin textures the clear plate with an interesting pattern, and leaves the contoured corners soft so that insertion of the iPhone 4 is easier. Both cases have fully open tops for iPhone insertion into the semi-soft shells, plus built-in side button covers; FX leaves the Dock Connector open, while Vu covers it with a flip-open flap. Sadly, neither case includes screen protection; cleaning cloths are all you get besides the cases.
