Though it’s hard to take the packaging’s “patent pending” and “latest technology” claims seriously, Itatch LLC’s new Itatch eBook Anchor ($15) and Lanyard ($10) are sort of interesting, anyway. We were initially anything but impressed by the not-especially-novel concept of attaching a suction cup and lanyard to the back of an iPad, iPhone, or iPod, but when we actually saw the product being demonstrated to swing the devices around with as little concern as spinning a jumprope, the concept suddenly seemed a little more intriguing.
Would we trust a completely bare, glass-bodied iPhone or half-glass iPad/iPod touch to be held all the time by a suction cup? Probably not. But Itatch is secure enough to trust for at least brief periods of time, the nylon straps are durable, and metal clips connect the parts for easy disconnection should you need the device to be removed from your neck.
As simple as the idea and implementation may be, they’re not totally ridiculous, and the prices aren’t hugely objectionable, either.
