First Look: iWatchz Carbon Collection + Q Collection for iPod nano 6G

The latest iPod nano watch strap options to cross our desks are the Carbon Collection ($50) and Q Collection ($25) series from iWatchz, a new brand formed specifically to create handsome wristbands for the sixth-generation nano — and its likely successors. Q Collection is the company’s silicone rubber, hard plastic, and metal line, combining your choice of seven colored rubber straps with a translucent gray hard plastic “nanoclipz” mount and a polished metal buckle; each strap’s band is opaque, with a color complementing rather than precisely matching the ones Apple selected for the 2010 nano.

By comparison, Carbon Collection uses faux carbon fiber leather and microsuede for its strap, an opaque hard plastic central mount, and a matte-finished metal buckle. Here, six color options are limited solely to the stitching of the band, providing either black as shown in our photos, or contrasting tones similar to the nano options.

Carbon looks and feels like a more deluxe wrist strap, though both designs share the same extremely limited coverage of the mounted nano relative to other straps we’ve previously covered, putting fashion over protection.
