Logitech recently announced its newest label, Logi, and we’ve received the first products from the new imprint, a series of iPad cases. BLOK Protective Shell ($40) is a simple, blocky case for iPad mini 2 and 3 and iPad Air 2 (we received the mini version). BLOK Protective Case ($70) for iPad Air 2 is a folio-style case with a folding cover that creates different viewing angles, while BLOK Keyboard Case ($130) combines a case with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. All cases provide coverage for the sleep/wake button and volume controls.
The affordably priced BLOK Protective Shell comes with a protective screen cover. The rectangular Protective Shell doesn’t have any sort of stand function or a folio cover — it’s a straightforward rigid case with slightly flexible sides and corners. Logitech claims the case will protect the iPad from drops as high as six feet onto concrete, and it does feel quite protective.
BLOK Protective Case for iPad Air 2 uses the same basic shell to surround the iPad, but adds a flexible folio cover. That cover features Logitech’s any-angle stand, which is one of the better stands around.
Protective Case is sturdy and strong.
BLOK Keyboard Case for iPad Air 2 is another variation on the other two cases — it’s like Protective Shell with a built-in multi-angle stand on the back, and a magnetic slot for attaching the Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard is very good as far as iPad keyboards go. The keys are responsive and get the most out of the limited space available.
All three of Logitech’s first Logi cases are winners, as the BLOK series pairs top-notch protection with clever design, though some users may prefer a less bulky case for these thin iPads. Pricing is also reasonable.
