Presenting another option for those who need greater cord lengths than what Apple offers, Macally has rolled out its MISYNCABLEL6 6FT Extra Long Lightning to USB Cable ($25). There are no real surprises with the black cable, which has a Lightning plug on one side, and a USB connector on the other. The total length from end to end is six feet.
It’s made to work with any iPad, iPhone, or iPod with a Lightning port, letting you get further away from the wall or computer when syncing or charging.
Oftentimes, longer cables requires greater cable girth to carry the same charge to devices. The gauge on Griffin’s 3-Meter USB to Lightning Cable, for example, is particularly thick. Macally uses a cable that’s the same size as Apple’s, but is still able to carry a proper charge to even the fourth-generation iPad, the company’s most power-hungry Lightning device.
The sheath around the Lightning plug is a familiar oval shape, but wider than Apple’s; it still fits into the opening on most cases. Overall, if you need a long cable, this is a perfectly good option. It’s not exciting, but it does just what it’s supposed to do, at a reasonable price.
