Review: Odoyo Quad360 and QuadMax for iPhone 6

Review: Odoyo Quad360 and QuadMax for iPhone 6

Odoyo’s Quad360 ($30) and QuadMax ($30) cases have arrived for iPhone 6 in a variety of colors. Quad360 is a one-piece translucent TPU case with proper button coverage and an “X” pattern on the back. QuadMax is a more substantial case — the phone is placed inside a rubber inner layer, then in a partial plastic shell which has a foam rubber backing. Both cases feature more exact camera cutouts than many cases we’ve seen so far for the iPhone 6, by way of the “anti-glare” camera protection ring — we’re not sure if these rings actually reduce glare in any way, but they look nice.

Quad360 is a one-piece case like others we’ve seen, though it also offers slightly extended corners for extra drop protection. However, we don’t believe that’s worth a $5-$10 premium as compared to other similar cases.

There’s nothing wrong with button coverage on Quad360, but our speaker cutout was slightly off, as the case partially obscured one of the six speaker holes on the bottom of the device. The sides of the case also doesn’t feel as tight as they should on the iPhone 6.

QuadMax is a different story. For the same price, it offers dual-layer protection. The fit of the case is more secure, and the port cutouts at the bottom all line up nicely. Extended corners for extra drop protection are included here, as well.

QuadMax is also more eye-catching than many cases, as each version of the case features multiple colors. However, the case does add a bit of bulk with the foam rubber backing. Some may love the feel of it, some may hate it — we found it a bit more slippery than preferred.

We can’t quite recommend Odoyo’s Quad360 for iPhone 6. For a typical one-piece case, there are some minor flaws, and the price is a bit high. Other similar cases are better options.
