As little as we’re interested in covering the now endless array of thin colored rear shells that keep coming out for the iPhone 3G and 3GS, Ozaki’s latest two are so unusual that we thought they were worth sharing. iCoat Sweat is the more distinctive, a metallic-coated plastic shell with sweat-like beads of clear plastic all over, resembling drops of moisture — the sort of unique texture that we can only guess was the result of an experiment in attempting to apply a protective coating to a metal shell. Seven different colors are available, each with a screen protector and a wiping cloth. The other case is iCoat Anti-Drop, which is a lot weirder: a huge box that includes the phrase “handcuff you & iPhone,” and includes a fingercuff, wristband, and thick rubbery necklace all made of rubber, plus a white or black shell that Ozaki claims is “anti-slip” but feels basically the same as its other glossy iCoat cases. Odd, yes, and Ozaki: please cut down on all the packaging, which is wastefully big and in some cases feels like it costs more than the stuff inside the boxes.
