Power Support has long made some of the best protective films for Apple’s devices, so we’ve been anxiously awaiting its wares for the third-generation iPad. Just arrived at our offices are the new third-generation iPad screen protectors AFP Crystal Film ($33) and Antiglare Film ($33), both listed as supporting the iPad 2 as well. Arriving in new packaging that shows a sharp color shift for the company, each includes a single sheet of film and a cleaning cloth. Power Support claims that the Antiglare Film preserves the light-diffusing features of its predecessor while offering superior performance with high-resolution screens, and suggests that the AFP Crystal Film has an oil and fingerprint-resistant surface coating. Our initial impression of the Antiglare Film is that the installation was one of the easiest we’ve ever done, but there’s still an obvious prismatic effect — better and smaller rainbow-like pixel fringes than with cheap film, but not a night-and-day improvement over the prior generation film.
