Three new iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus cases from Silk Innovation aim to offer the same protection and basic features as iPhone cases which often cost double the price. Pure View ($12) is a slim case with a rubber bumper linked to a clear polycarbonate backing. Silk includes a template for inserting your own printed image into the back of the case. Stealth Armor ($18) is a rubber case with included swappable hard polycarbonate backplates, which match the colors of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Vault ($15) is a one-piece rubberized wallet offering that allows users to fit three cards and cash in the back of the case. All of the cases have proper, responsive coverage for the sleep/wake button and volume controls.
Pure View is a no-frills performer, offering solid protection and coverage with slightly extended corners for a low price. While we appreciate the idea of Stealth Armor’s backplates, they can be a bit tricky to install. The case is otherwise solid.
As for Vault, it’s a fine wallet case option. It holds three cards securely, though we didn’t feel as comfortable leaving cash in its pocket. We found no major differences between the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus versions of the cases.
As for criticisms, the back camera hole is bigger than necessary on Stealth Armor and Vault, and we’re unsure of the drop protection on all three cases. Also, up close, these three options may look and feel a bit cheaper than competing cases.
