Though we’ve said often and repeatedly that we’re not fans of these types of cases, Simplism’s latest shipment of iPhone 4 updated releases each has a little something that was interesting enough to show off, anyway — typically a layer of wood veneer. The Belt Clip Style case is a plain, contrast-stitched leather belt clip holster with a strip of wood on the front flap. Flip Note Style opens like a book and has a wood stripe on the front edge, with a heavy, thick plastic lining. Leather Cover is a plastic shell with faux leather in either colored crocodile or “lizard” textures, bundled with a screen protector, applicator card, and microfiber cloth not found in the other packages. Microfiber Sleeve is a pouch with a fabric rear drawstring — again topped with a wood applique — and available in some nice colors. Finally, Vertical Flip Style has a top flap that opens to the case’s bottom, possessing a much larger wood panel; this one is novel in that the flap doubles back to become a FaceTime video stand, though like Flip Note, the plastic frame is very thick. We can’t say that we’d get terribly excited about any of these types of cases, but if you have a wood paneling fetish or really need to turn your iPhone 4 into a pink lizard, Simplism has you covered. Once again, the cases arrived without any sort of pricing information, but we’d expect them each to run in the $20-$30 range.
