Skech’s SkechBook ($35-$40) is a folio-style case for iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 2/3. The name is fitting — SkechBook is thick and sturdy, as it looks and feels like a book. The back of the case has an opening for the iPad’s camera (the mini version also has an extra hole for the microphone on the back of the device).
Like many folio cases, the back cover has a crease, allowing the case to be used as a landscape viewing stand. SkechBook comes in a variety of colors, and we received an attractive champagne version of the case. The Air 2 case costs $5 more than the mini version.
As expected with a case this thick, there are no issues with the sleep/wake function activating when the cover is closed.
SkechBook doesn’t take advantage of the iPad Air 2’s thin body, but the tradeoff is that it’s a better option for someone who prefers a folio case with a undoubtedly secure fit. We’re fond of the champagne model, which is especially fitting for those with gold iPads. SkechBook is a snazzy case being sold at a very competitive price, and it earns our strong general recommendation.
