As a direct continuation of its earlier, popular series of iPod touch and iPhone Fitted Cases — hard plastic shells with cool patterned fabric on the outside — Speck’s new Fitted Case for iPad ($50) comes in five different versions, including the great new fadeaway gray/black/green one shown here, a black & white plaid case, second-colored variations on both, and a houndstooth gray. Fitted doesn’t come with screen protection, but separates into front and rear pieces, collectively protecting most of the iPad body save for its ports, speaker, microphone, and buttons. Updated August 9, 2010: Speck has updated Fitted with a new bottom design that’s less open than before, as well as a smoother locking system for its front frame. The last photo below shows the updated version.
