Though we have loved many of SwitchEasy’s recent cases, we were somewhat less enthusiastic about CapsuleNeo for iPhone 3G, a case that was impressively protective and interesting to look at, but a pain to install and remove. Now SwitchEasy has released NeoTouch ($30), an iPod touch 2G version that is at least equally difficult to assemble and take apart, but similarly provides so much protection that users may be willing to put up with the effort anyway. Presently available in white or black, NeoTouch comes with two separate silicone skins, two hard plastic frames, two screen protectors, a Dock Connector cover, and frills such as a video stand, Dock Adapter, headphone port adapter, and cleaning cloth. You put the skin on the iPod touch, then the frame on the skin, a process that unfortunately requires a bit of adjustment and tucking before everything looks right. Once it’s done, you have complete protection for the iPod touch, except the Home button, plus spare screen and skin pieces if you damage the ones you use most often. We’d really like to see SwitchEasy simplify this case; the idea’s nice, but it just seems like too much work.
