What we really like about Twelve South’s new BookArc for iPad ($40): this silver steel iPad stand feels every bit as solid as its earlier, larger version for MacBooks, includes two rubber inserts for use with unencased and encased iPads, and pitches itself as capable of letting iPads either stand upright or on an angle as you prefer.
The rubber tips on the stand prevent it from scratching your desk or table, and the $40 price is $10 less expensive than any other metal iPad stand we’ve seen.

Unfortunately, rubber insert 2 — the one for encased iPads — doesn’t really work properly, tilting the iPad in the wrong direction such that its screen faces down rather than up, and the metal in our review sample had a number of scuffs, dents, and other little imperfections that thankfully are only obvious up close.
