First Look: Unipixel Fingerprint Resistant Screen Protectors for iPhone 4 + 3G/3GS

First Look: Unipixel Fingerprint Resistant Screen Protectors for iPhone 4 + 3G/3GS

Boasting what Unipixel claims is “true fingerprint resistance” using a new microscopic finger oil-wicking technology, the Fingerprint Resistant Screen Protectors for iPhone 3G/3GS ($15) and iPhone 4 ($15) each come in three-packs with bag-sealed microfiber screen cloths inside. The clear screen film covers most of the iPhone’s face, with a gap at the bottom near the Home Button, and leaves no residue when removed from your device.

Updated! After testing Unipixel’s film, we were generally pleased: this has only a minor prismatic effect on a screen — a little bit more than Power Support’s current HD Anti-Glare film, but less than most other brands — while offering genuine fingerprint resistance. It’s also thinner than most of the high-quality films we’ve tested, or comparable in thickness to films that are cheaper and typically much worse-looking.

On the other hand, Unipixel doesn’t include an applicator card in its packages, and we’re not totally thrilled by the Home Button gap, either. We’d call this a “good” option overall, though better suited to pre-Retina Display devices than others.
