For those looking for the very slimmest type of semi-protection while still maintaining a degree of personalization, United SGP has released its Skin Guard for iPad 2 ($20). Available in a black faux-carbon fiber pattern, brown, black, or white faux-leather, Skin Guard is a sticker that covers most — but not all — of the back of the device. The shape is kind of odd, with a recessed area for the speaker and a bump around the camera rather than running all the way to the edges. Also left exposed is the Apple logo, but a clear two piece protector is included to cover the fruit and leaf. A microfiber cloth is included with all the models and each is also supposed to include a “logo metal sticker,” although none of our review units contained one. Unlike some of United SGP’s other products, no screen film is packed in.

Updated May 1, 2012: Spigen SGP has released an updated version of Skin Guard for the third-geneartion iPad. We can’t discern any differences between the original and newer skins other than perhaps a slightly larger camera hole. Skin Guard still sells for $20.
