Vaja’s second iPad case to debut is iVolution Top ($150), a two-piece, padded leather hardshell that is customized in your choice of inner and outer colors. Silver logo-accented floater leather is used for the outside, with 22 selectable color choices, and a smoother, less grainy leather in your choice of 31 colors is found on the inside, branded with embossed Vaja word logos. Holes are left for the iPad’s edge buttons and ports, though the completely closed case covers the device’s Dock Connector and partially obscures one of its speaker vents; pulling the front shell off provides full access to everything, including the screen.

On May 13, 2010, iLounge published The Complete Guide to iPad Cases and Protection, a multi-page comparison of over 70 different iPad cases and film protectors, sorted by genre. The following details were added to this piece by that comparison article; please click on the link above for additional comparative discussion of similar protective options.
Unlike Sleeves, which keep an iPad inside for slip-out use, this collection of iPad cases has been designed to split open and reveal the device—generally for use while still in the case. There are such similarities between these cases that we’ve put them into groups solely for the purpose of indicating which we think are standouts, and which basically blur into each other.
iVolution Top is a Middle-of-Pack Pick. Crazy expensive, this beautiful case has a design twist relative to everything else in the category: it splits into two halves so that you needn’t keep the front flap around if you desire. Soft padded leather on the front and back has holes to expose the headphone port and buttons on both the top and side, plus most of the speakers, and some very simple silver appliques.
