Review: ZeroChroma VarioProtect for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Review: ZeroChroma VarioProtect for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

ZeroChroma isn’t a company that’s afraid to tweak even its best designs. While we’ve loved previous versions of the company’s VarioProtect iPhone case, the new version of VarioProtect for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ($40) is a bit different — ZeroChroma’s Flux-Stand now protrudes slightly from the back of a form-fitting TPU case. The patterned case comes in a variety of translucent colors, showing off the back of the phone.

While some may prefer how the previous VarioProtect’s stand didn’t jut out, the rest of the case is arguably a bit nicer now.

The camera hole fits better than the last version of the case, while button coverage is still nice and responsive. VarioProtect also loses the finger grips on each side, which makes sense on the larger phones — it reduces bulk slightly. The key component though, as always, is the company’s Flux-Stand.

Again, it works wonderfully; it’s easy to use the clever built-in kickstand in about as many different positions as you’ll ever need. It’s worth pointing out that VarioProtect is compatible with ZeroChroma’s Car Stand Mount and Reflective Armband, as well.

Design tweaks not withstanding, the meat of VarioProtect remains the same. It’s a good TPU case that becomes great with the addition of the Flux-Stand.
