The three new iPhone models that are expected to be launched in 2020 will all have 5G connectivity, according to Ming Chi Kuo. The same group of iPhones may have significant design changes compared to the current lineup, including new display sizes of 5.4, 6.1 and 6.7 inch screens.
The recent acquisition of Intel’s smartphone modem business gives Apple a significant boost in the 5G department. It’s expected that Android devices will roll out with 5G by mid-2020, and iOS devices will have to play catch up. The Cupertino-based company’s devices will be higher-priced models, to which 5G will be a necessity for some consumers. Also, 5G is set to be a requirement for Apple and its partner carrier subsidies.
The three 2020 iPhones are believed to come in the 5.4, 6.1 and 6.7 inch variant, with OLED displays and sub-6Hz and mmWave bands for the universal model, and a sub-6Hz only spectrum for the Chinese market.
