Apple’s CEO has partnered with the Ellis Marsalis Music Center in donating Apple equipment to be utilized for music production and at the same time provide software training.
Right after Tim Cook addressed the students in Tulane University, he spent two hours at the EMCM and listened to the students as they played in the performance hall. Cook also made time for students who displayed their video and audio mixing skills using computers the tech giant donated.
On a side note, Cook said that the Ellis Marsalis Music Center is “an illustration” of New Orlean’s unique creativity. Moreover, the CEO stated that New Orleans can leverage its cultural heritage and realize its ambition to becoming a regional tech hub.
Harry Conick Jr., one of the two founders of EMCM, stated that the Apple CEO’s visit and interest in the center was “monumental”, and further mentioned that he hoped it would be the start of a long relationship.
The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music is a performance, recording and education venue in the 9th Ward, and was opened to the public in 2011.
