Apple is expected to follow its yearly plans and hold an event in the month of October. The event is usually a venue for the company to unveil new Macs and new iPads. Last year, the long pending MacBook Air redesign was unveiled, along with the bezel less iPad Pro.
This year, the biggest product release at the October event will most likely be the new MacBook Pro and reworked MacBook Air. The MacBook lineup has been suffering from a bad case of keyboard issues. Over the years, Apple improved its repair programs, introduced free warranty, and also tweaked the keyboard design multiple times.
The keyboards on the current generation MacBooks are still problematic, with users reporting sudden failure of keys. To address the issue, Apple is reportedly working on a new scissor switch keyboard design which will offer more travel area compared to the butterfly keyboard design.
The butterfly keyboard design was introduced along with the 2015 MacBook which was later added to all the MacBook lines. The goal with the design was to decrease the thickness of the laptops. However, the whole plan backfired on Apple as the cons started to outweigh the pros.
The postPC era: iPads are the way to go
Along with the new MacBook Pros and new Macbook Airs, we could also see updates to the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro was refreshed just last year, so the updates could be subtle like processor bumps and faster FaceID, keeping it in line with this year’s iPhones. However, there’s also another rumour flying around that Apple will add a triple camera setup to the iPad Pro. It’s unclear as to whether the iPad Pro will receive the treatment this year or the next.
Apple already updated the iPad Air, the iPad Mini, and the standard iPad (a newly introduced 10.2” size). We’ll update you as soon as we hear more.
