The Wall Street Journal has outlined a report that the most popular streaming services are increasing their budget for original content.
This is in light of Apple TV+ becoming available in a few months’ time. WSJ has mentioned that Apple is spending approximately $15M per episode of the sci-fi drama series ‘See’. For original content, the report stated that the Cupertino-based firm has approximately a $1 billion budget for original TV shows and movies. In the previous year, ‘The Morning Show’ and it’s lead actresses Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston each earned more than $1.25 million for the series.
‘See’ is a science fiction drama set in the future when mankind has been decimated and its survivors left blind. It stars Jason Momoa of the ‘Game of Thrones’ fame, with footage revealing sweeping British Columbia vistas and fields.
Apple TV+ is set to launch Fall, but pricing is still unclear. More details should be revealed as we draw nearer to the date.
