Jenny Durkan, Mayor of Seattle has announced that Apple intends to hire 2,000 more employees over the next five years in the city.
Currently, Apple has Seattle offices working on various technology, including Siri, artificial intelligence and iCloud. Today marks the company’s intent on a major expansion.
Previously, it was reported that Apple was looking to lease a large office within the South Lake Union area in Seattle. The rumors stated that the Cupertino-based firm wanted to occupy a building at 333 Dexter Ave., which can accommodate approximately 4,200 employees within its office space of 630,000 sq. ft.
Then, in 2018 Apple said that they will be setting up offices in Seattle, which links the address as mentioned in the rumors.
There’s already a major engineering hub in Seattle that focuses in on machine learning and artificial intelligence. The tech firm then expanded their Two Union Square offices in the downtown area in 2018.
