Apple is very serious about making its TV streaming plans work. The company is to launch its Apple TV+ service on the 1st of November for $4.99 per month. To sweeten the deal, the company is giving away one year of free Apple TV+ subscription with the purchase of any Apple device after the 10th of September.
Unlike Netflix or other streaming services, Apple TV+ won’t have old movies or TV shows. The catalogue at launch will be extremely limited, so it’s important for the company to get the deals right. The devices eligible for the free one year subscription are iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV, and Mac.

The deal gets even sweeter
After one year, users will be charged at $4.99 per month, unless Apple changes its plans by then. The strategy is very similar to Amazon which has been packing its video streaming service and music streaming service along with its Prime subscription for an extremely low yearly price (in some countries). Amazon has been some success with this strategy and if Apple plans to do the same in the future i.e pack Music, TV+, Arcade in a single package that would definitely make it an extremely sweet deal.
At the launch Apple TV+ is expected to have shows like The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, Dickinson, See starring Jason Momoa, a space show For All Mankind, and The Elephant Queen.
Original shows are the way to go
“With Apple TV+, we are presenting all-original stories from the best, brightest and most creative minds, and we know viewers will find their new favourite show or movie on our service,” said Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video. “Each Apple TV+ original offers its own unique story, fresh perspective and powerful message — all meant to entertain, connect and inspire cultural conversations.”
So if you’re buying an Apple device, be sure to redeem that free Apple TV+ subscription in November.
