Apple has green-lighted a new original show based on Paul Theroux’s novel, titled ‘The Mosquito Coast‘. It will star Justin Theroux, who happens to be the author’s nephew.
The story revolves around Allie Fox, an inventor who wants to get away from current civilization and create new one deep within the jungles of Honduras. Soon, his utopian experiment goes wrong and endangers the people he loves.
Neil Cross has been tasked with adapting the novel for television and will be the show’s runner. He will partner up with Tom Bissell and write the pilot episode of the show. Rupert Wyatt will also join the ensemble and direct a few episodes.
Justin Theroux is an actor known for appearing in TV shows such as Netflix’s Maniac and The Leftovers and movies, including The Girl on the Train, Zoolander and American Psycho.
Apple TV+ is set to launch November 1 and will cost $4.99 per month.
