The Vision Pro was almost named the Reality Pro for the majority of its time in development. Internally, it was called the Reality Pro before the company decided to change its name to what we know as the Vision Pro headset.
The device could have been released with the name Apple Reality Pro; trademark filings made back in 2022 were for Reality Processor, Reality One, and Reality Pro branding. This was after a trademark application filing was also made for realityOS back in 2021.
At WWDC 2023, the headset now known as the Vision Pro was released as the company looks to have abandoned the Reality branding for both the operating system and the device. The Vision Pro was released in the United States in 2024, priced at $3,499, a heavy price tag that has not seen much success.
