The Apple Watch accounted for 47% of total smart watch sales for the second quarter of 2019, equaling to about 5.7 million products sold during the period.
According to Strategy Analytics, 12.3 million smartwatch units were shipped in Q2 2019 in total. Apple’s product was number 1, followed by Samsung with 2.2 million watches sold, then Fitbit at 3rd place with 1.2 million watches.
Apple’s growth in the smart watch industry has grown over the years. In Q2 2018, the company shipped 3.8 million units. This mirrors the global smartwatch trend as a whole, from 8.6 million units to 12.3 million today.
Apple Watch sales aren’t broken down in categories, and includes revenue from Accessories, Home and Wearables.
Tim Cook, Apple CEO mentioned that smart watch sales were an ‘absolute blowout’ during the third fiscal quarter and had enjoyed more than 50% in sales growth. Apple’s smart watch has also set a June quarter record in terms of revenue, where it reached new consumers.
