Chinese company Xiaomi will be launching a new smartwatch in November 5, and judging from the video and images the device will look a lot like the Apple Watch.
Tentatively named ‘Mi Watch’, Xiaomi’s latest offering sports the same rectangular screen, rounded corners, a crown button and a pill-shaped button at the right side. Xiaomi has less rounded contours and a thicker face, and the accompanying strap isn’t as elegant as Apple’s, but the resemblance is there nonetheless.
The smartwatch has Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi, as well as an e-SIM slot for calls. The processor is a Snapdragon Wear 3100, used to power new Wear-based devices. Xiaomi has partnered up with Huami for wearable tech, but it’s not clear whether the company will be making the watch.
Xiaomi has had a history of copying off Apple products, including its AirDots wireless headphones that look like AirPods, the Mimoji avatar ad and the color-changing background with the macOS Mojave.
