The manufacturing partner Apple has is looking to bag enough DRAM to finish the foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro production with processors that are unpackaged, worth about $1 billion.
The debut of the foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be in 6 weeks. Apple is scrambling with the shipments for DRAM as the company is depending heavily on memory supplied by Micron. They are also buying from Samsung and SK Hynix.
The upcoming iPhones are to be powered by the A20 chip and will be made using the N2 process by TSMC. Manufacturers were notified by Apple to make about 200 million units across the iPhone Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro, and base iPhone 18, with the remaining units to be evenly split between the base and standard model. The foldable iPhone is expected to be priced at about $2,000.
