Bloomberg reported that Apple is considering either Claude or ChatGPT to power its assistant.
Apple is said to be meeting with Anthropic and OpenAI for a potential partnership to fix Siri. Both companies are believed to have a training model for the Private Cloud Compute system, which Apple is currently testing. However, it’s not clear if Apple will drop Siri in favor of either LLM. The Cupertino-based firm found Anthropic to be the better fit, with Apple and Anthropic already in talks about preliminary finances. Bloomberg said that Anthropic wanted an increasing annual fee, and for this reason Apple has turned to OpenAI and others for a potentially lower-priced contract.

Apple has been working on an LLM for a new version of Siri, but so far it’s been a slow progress. Apple Intelligence features won’t make it until 2026 at earliest, but then promised a working version in iOS 26.
