Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced on Twitter that Apple will be making a donation to aid in the California wildfire relief efforts.
On the tweet, Cook gave an emphatic statement towards victims of the fire, including Apple employees. He also thanked the first responders who have worked tirelessly to control the blaze.
Currently, the Kincade fire that’s sweeping Sonoma County has burned through 65,000 acres, causing thousands of people to evacuate. 100 mph winds drove the wildfire towards the Santa Rosa area, with more to be expected this week.
In dry conditions, the wildfire and strong winds make for a devastating combination. PG&E, a California power company has cut power to try and prevent additional fires from forming, but it didn’t have an effect on the Kincade incident.
Northern and Southern California both have wildfires raging at the moment. Gavin Newsom, the state’s governor has declared a statewide emergency.
